Course Overview
The Skyview High School physical education department is based on the premise that physical activity and regular participation are important for all students, regardless of their level of athletic skill or ability. Throughout various activities, students in our program will learn how to incorporate physical activity and healthy choices into their daily lives.
Student Expectations
• Respect the rights, opinions, and property of others
• Follow directions
• Be prepared to participate in class every day
• Keep your locker and locker room clean
• Keep all food and drink out of the gym except for water
• Make sure to enter and exit out of the south doors
• Abide by the SHS handbook at all times
Lockers and Locker Rooms
• Each student will be able to use a locker and it is their responsibility to find a lock.
• Please respect the lockers and locker rooms by keeping it clean.
• DO NOT SHARE LOCKERS. You are responsible for your own clothes and items. I will not open lockers of other students if you leave your stuff in them.
• Be sure to keep your locker locked at all times. The locker rooms may not always be locked or supervised. Please double check to make sure your lock is securely locked.
SKYVIEW HIGH SCHOOL AND THE P.E. TEACHERS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS.
Attendance
Attendance will be taken daily approximately 5 minutes after the tardy bell rings. Students are expected to be dressed and ready to participate when attendance is taken. Attendance will be taken again at the end of class to ensure that all students stay through the entire class. If a student leaves class or is gone for an extended period of time a truancy may be issued.
• Tardies- Please refer to the school tardy policy for more information.
• Excused Absences- If you have an excused absence you may still receive your daily points by doing a make-up assignment. Please go to Mr. Williamson’s website to get a copy of this assignment.
• Non-Excused Absences- Non-excused absences cannot be made up and a student will lose all points for that day.
Class Dress
• Every student is required to dress down every day for P.E. class
• Please wear clothing that is Blue, Gray, White, or Black
• Shorts must be fingertip length and pulled up around the hips
• All shirts must be in accordance with the school dress policy
• Sweats and sweatshirts may be worn
• A pair of tennis shoes should be kept at school and used only for P.E.
• No boots, sandals, flip flops, or slip on shoes may be worn during class
• All other school rules and handbook items will be followed
I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO ASK YOU TO CHANGE AT ANYTIME IF I FEEL YOU ARE NOT APPROPIATELY DRESSED OR READY FOR CLASS.
Grading Policy
Our class will be broken up into different units. Students will receive points during each unit based on the following items.
• Attendance and participation
o Daily Point Break Down
 1 point for wearing appropriate attire for PE
 1 point for stretching/warming up
 1 point for a Daily Exit Slip
 2 points for participating in the daily activity
• Citizenship or sportsmanship
• Written assignments or homework
• Tests (written or skills)
We will also fitness test 3 times per semester. Students will receive points based on individual fitness test scores.
